Mark 8:34-35 KJV
“And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.”
I’m truly excited for all God is going to do through this fast. Fasting is such a precious gift, and such a powerful tool when done right. I pray you are seeking God just as much as you are denying your flesh during this time. The spiritual component is what turns a “diet” into a fast.
We are all doing this fast for various different reasons, but I think we can all agree that getting closer to Him is always our main goal. We are all doing our best seeking our God in this loud world. When the busyness of life tries to take our intimacy with the Lord, then it’s time to go to the spiritual chiropractor. I pray this fast does that for you. We may need a realignment. Crack a few bones and put everything in its place. My question to you is, “IS everything in its place?” If God is not Lord over all, then everything it is not in its place. God is our Savior, but we cannot forget to revere Him as our LORD.
Engagement: My challenge to you is this. Get on your knees. Please don’t skip this part. There’s something powerful about getting on your knees when you pray. While you’re on your knees, thank Him for being your Savior. And then ask Him,
“Have I truly made you my Lord?”
“Have I truly surrendered all of me?”
“What area of my life am I still holding onto that you would like me to place at your feet?”
When you ask these questions with sincerity and are open to hear God’s answer, you will truly receive one from Him. Make sure you have a notebook handy because everything God says is important. Write it down.
It may seem very 101 to some of you, but I challenge you to walk this out with the Lord. You may be surprised what He reveals to you.
The best part is that there is no condemnation. God is going to be happy you asked! Like a proud Father. Please know there is nothing, NOTHING better than communion with our Lord. So whatever He asks you to lay down for Him, it’s only because it’s in the best way. Nothing can fulfill you the way God can. We are designed that way. We were created with a void that only He can fill. The most satisfying life is one that is lived in the center of His will.
What if we were so recklessly devoted to God that we didn’t care what anybody else thought? What if our identity in Him was so deeply rooted, that we were unshakable? What if our faith was so strong that we were immovable by opposition? What if we obeyed God without hesitation and trusted Him with the consequences? What would that look like? And what would God do with that? Only one way to find out! Let’s do this together, family!
